Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a psychological disorder. It is defined in two parts, Obsessions, and Compulsions.
Obsessions are described as “recurrent and unpleasant thoughts, words or images which intrude forcibly into a person’s mind.” One cannot control these thoughts or chase them away.
Compulsions are often the result of obsessions; they are actions that are “repetitive and seemingly purposeful, but usually performed in a ritualistic manner.” These actions aim to achieve something, however, they often can only provide a temporary relief. An OCD sufferer will have to repeat these actions again and again, with increasing urgency until they try and seek treatment.
